PRACTICAL USE OF CRYOMEGA

The depth of the freezing and therefore the efficacy of the cryosurgery depends on the application time and the distance at which the spray is held from the treated area. Cryosurgery is most effective on shallow lesions.

The table below suggests application times for the CryOmega device as an example. Total application time should never exceed 30 seconds for optimal wound healing. The CryOmega must be held vertically just above the lesion and freezing begins immediately on application and is seen as a whitening of the treated tissues. In addition to the target tissue, it is recommended that the immediate area (1-2mm) around the lesion is also sprayed with cryogenic gas to stimulate healing. The spray should not be applied in one static position, but moved around in small circles.

For optimal results it may be necessary to apply the cryogenic gas from the CryOmega twice in one session, giving a few seconds to thaw after one application before a second freezing. In some cases a third freezing may be required.

In many cases, one clinic session with CryOmega is sufficient for removal of a small thin lesion. The destroying, sloughing-off and healing of target tissue may take 10-14 days to take effect. However, for a thicker lesion, a repeated treatment with CryOmega may be recommended.

SEBACEOUS ADENOMA IN A DOG BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT WITH CRYOMEGA

Below, the first photo shows a sebaceous adenoma before treatment. The middle photo shows the lesion immediately after treatment with CryOmega. The third photo was taken 3 weeks later: the nodule is now gone and a scab is present (normal healing process).
